Description
Through the generous support of the Orion Fund in Fine Arts, the University of Victoria is pleased to present:
Monika Zessnik
Curator North American Collections, Ethnologisches Museum Staatliche Museen zu Berlin
Presented by UVic’s Department of Art History & Visual Studies
For this special lunch time Orion Lecture, join us for a discussion about museums, conservation and decolonization. Dr. Kim Dhillon will moderate a conversation between Monika Zessnik – Curator of North American Collections at the Ethnologisches Museum in Berlin and Carey Newman – Impact Chair in Indigenous Art Practices at UVic. The dialogue will revolve around the Nulis Mask, a cultural object that now resides in the collection of the Ethnologisches Museum, but once belonged to the Newman family.
